POSITION OVERVIEW:
As a Pediatric Communication Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to evaluate, diagnose, and treat children experiencing challenges related to speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing. You will collaborate with behavioral therapy teams to ensure the effective incorporation of communication strategies into therapeutic programs. Additionally, you will provide essential training to clinical personnel regarding communication development, therapy techniques, and identifying deficits.

Your role will also involve training caregivers and other professionals within the child's environment to ensure the consistent application and generalization of communication skills. You will coordinate with external Speech-Language Pathologists as necessary and work closely with clinical staff to maintain high standards in the design and implementation of each child's communication plan.
Responsibilities include participating in monthly meetings with the Program Coordinators and/or Executive Leadership.

As a Speech-Language Pathologist, you will create and execute individualized Plans of Care, employing evidence-based methods tailored to the needs of your assigned clients.

Furthermore, you will assist in developing the Plan of Care and any necessary documentation for funding requests related to the Speech-Language Pathology services provided to clients.


REQUIREMENTS:
A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders is required.

Current licensure or progress towards obtaining a license to practice Speech-Language Pathology through the relevant state health department is essential.

Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) is preferred, and Clinical Fellows are encouraged to apply with mentorship opportunities available.
Experience with Autism and Pediatric populations is advantageous.

Capacity to collaborate effectively with all members of the clinical and administrative teams to ensure optimal therapeutic programming for clients.

A valid driver's license, automobile insurance, and access to a vehicle for travel to various worksites are required.

Must pass all criminal background checks mandated by state regulations to work with children and vulnerable populations.

Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) is necessary.
Ability to communicate professionally with clients, caregivers, colleagues, and supervisors.

Skill in conveying information in both written and verbal formats to caregivers, clinical staff, or other support personnel as needed and in a timely manner.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Accountable for establishing and continuously evaluating treatment programs, care plans, objectives, and discharge strategies for assigned clients in consultation with the Program Supervisor.

Adjusts plans and objectives based on the unique needs of clients in collaboration with the Clinical Supervisor.
Administers standardized assessments for speech and language.
Responds promptly to service referrals.

Provides leadership and support in integrating speech-language therapy goals into behavioral therapy settings in partnership with the clinical team.

This includes both direct and indirect clients as required.
Conducts regular reviews for all clients, ensuring that updated Plans of Care are included in the 90-day evaluations.
Completes and submits all required documentation in accordance with established guidelines.
Maintains accurate and current clinical records.

Offers guidance and training on therapeutic strategies to Behavior Therapists, Lead Therapists, Clinical Supervisors, and Program Managers as needed.

Participates in Individualized Treatment Plan (ITP) discussions as applicable.
Provides leadership and supervision for all skilled treatment programs as outlined in the Plan of Care.
Coordinates client scheduling in collaboration with the clinical team.
Delivers education to clients and families regarding available support services as appropriate.
Engages with the clinical team to review each client's progress in communication programming.
Adheres to the ASHA Code of Ethics.
Maintains licensure and membership with ASHA.
Completes necessary continuing education requirements.
Responds to communications within a 24-hour timeframe.
Attends all required training sessions and meetings at the central office.
Utilizes the time-reporting system appropriately for reimbursement purposes.
Considers ethical and cultural factors while maintaining professional boundaries in interactions with clients, caregivers, colleagues, and interns.
Restricts work to areas of personal expertise and employs the most current methods recognized in the field.
Other responsibilities as assigned by management.
