Electrical Systems Specialist Job Description

Macy's is seeking a skilled Electrical Systems Specialist to maintain and repair electrical systems in our stores.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform emergency repairs on electrical switchgear, motors, emergency generators, relay systems, and related equipment.
  • Prepare and maintain computer equipment records for all electrical switchgear, motors, emergency generators, relay systems, and related equipment.
  • Conduct energy management related tasks and repairs, which comprise approximately 20% of the required essential job responsibilities.
  • Submit work order completion, material requisition, and equipment data documentation on a timely basis using a computer-based system.
  • Travel between stores to complete repairs as required.
Requirements:
  • 5 years minimum experience in hands-on repairs, diagnosis, and maintenance of electrical switchgear, motors, emergency generators, and related equipment in a commercial or industrial electrical environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to communicate and share information with diverse groups of customers and peers.
  • Resourceful and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule with retail hours, including day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of standing/walking around store or department.
  • May involve reaching, crouching, kneeling, stooping, and color vision.
  • Frequent use of computers and other technology, necessary to perform job functions.
  • Frequently lift/move up to 50lbs.
Additional Information:
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Some intermittent out-of-town travel is required.
  • Ability to read electrical ladder diagrams and schematics, and have proven motor control experience.
  • Ability to work safely around customers and colleagues.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Excellent trouble-shooting and electrical diagnostic skills are required.
  • Ability to work without direct daily direct supervision.
