General Summary:
The Program Support Specialist is tasked with delivering essential advising services to military-affiliated students regarding their veteran benefits. This role involves conducting initial assessments of enrollment eligibility for VA benefits and managing communications through the office's veteran services mailbox. The position will provide support to the Director of Military and Veterans Services and the School Certifying Office. A strong emphasis is placed on delivering professional and courteous customer service, maintaining precise records, and effectively communicating with veteran students across various campuses. The position is primarily based in the Military Services Office, with potential duties at other designated locations as needed.

Key Responsibilities: Review and analyze veteran benefit enrollment information with guidance from the school certifying official. Provide advising to veteran students regarding their educational benefits, including Post 911 and other eligible programs. Address inquiries from veteran students and their dependents. Respond to questions related to benefits and enrollment through various communication channels. Manage the veteran services inbox with a focus on accuracy and efficiency. Assist in the procurement of supplies for the military services department. Report directly to the Director within the Office of Military and Veterans Services. Required Skills and Abilities:

Essential Qualifications: Ability to thrive under pressure and meet established deadlines. Proficient in setting priorities and making informed decisions aligned with institutional policies. Capable of interpreting and explaining academic and veteran-related policies. Skilled in providing accurate information regarding GI Bill and other veteran education benefits. Experience working in a dynamic environment with a diverse student body. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, complemented by strong customer service capabilities. Knowledgeable in the processing of veteran benefits. Willingness to adapt and learn new systems. Preferred Qualifications: Background in case management or social work. Experience in program planning and implementation. Familiarity with military and veterans benefits. Proven customer service experience. Additional Qualifications: Established connections within the community and social services. Experience with veterans programs in higher education, particularly in community colleges. Previous office experience in an educational setting. Experience in delivering services from a case management perspective.
