About the Position:

The Climate Policy Program Coordinator oversees initiatives focused on advocacy, policy, and communication strategies, facilitates outreach and recruitment of new medical societies, and aids in steering the strategic objectives of the Consortium. Reporting to the Director of Programs, Outreach, and Strategy, this role supports the formulation, execution, monitoring, and assessment of the Consortium's policy and advocacy initiatives.

The Coordinator collaborates with the Policy Lead and Director to synchronize advocacy and outreach efforts concerning federal and state policy and strategic communications. Advocates include members of the 50-member medical societies, 25 state affiliates, and individual Climate and Health advocates. The Coordinator assists advocates in enhancing their educational and outreach endeavors at both federal and state levels.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct analysis and develop educational resources on climate and health policy for the Consortium network: Collect information on climate and health policies, analyze existing policies, research papers, and data; Create educational materials such as presentations, reports, and guides related to climate and health policy; Collaborate with consortium network members to understand their needs through meetings, training, and workshops, and evaluate the impact of these policy engagements to ensure clarity and accessibility, making adjustments as necessary; Serve as the liaison with climate health coalitions. Partner with state affairs and communications teams to create resources and implement outreach strategies and communication tools for the 51-member medical societies, 25 state affiliates, and individual Climate and Health advocates. Assist in organizing in-person and virtual events that benefit the organization and its members.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; Experience in policy and advocacy work, project or program management, and the coordination, tracking, and evaluation of projects and programs; Leadership experience with state and/or national advocacy organizations; Knowledge of the environmental effects and related health impacts of climate change; Advanced proficiency in computer applications; Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; Research, problem-solving, program management, organizational, and analytical skills; Demonstrated ability to organize, track, and evaluate project and program activities and data; Ability to listen actively and frame issues; Ability to efficiently find information using multiple sources; Ability to demonstrate initiative and work effectively under pressure, both independently and collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in a related field; Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Master's Degree in a related field.
