Position Overview

The Senior Project Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all operational departments, including client relations, project personnel management, supplier and subcontractor direction, as well as ensuring overall project safety, quality, planning, operations, cost management, and training.

District Overview

Kiewit's Southeast District is a prominent sector within Kiewit, focusing on infrastructure projects in heavy civil, transportation, and water resource markets. The projects may involve constructing bridges, airports, mass transit systems, canals, dams, pump stations, or tunnels. While the majority of our projects are based in the southeastern United States, we also engage in various initiatives along the east coast. We seek individuals who are dedicated to infrastructure and the construction industry rather than design.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Responsibilities

• Analyze projections and financial plans.

• Update 90-day discipline schedules and assess progress with team members.

• Review ST&S and equipment expenses with staff.

• Evaluate equipment requirements with the Construction Manager.

• Conduct weekly departmental meetings, assess weekly LDR reviews, and commodity curves with the team.

• Lead weekly scheduling discussions.

• Observe and evaluate operations, collaborating with the superintendent to enhance efficiency.

• Attend various crew safety meetings and provide feedback with the superintendent.

2. Administrative Responsibilities

• Maintain a daily log for record-keeping.

• Review daily expenditures.

• Prepare monthly cost reports for sections.

• Coordinate efforts with other team members on-site.

• Execute additional duties as assigned by the Project Manager.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience in a construction-related role.
  • Hands-on field experience in supervisory roles within construction disciplines (e.g., Drainage, Earthworks, Structures, Concrete).
  • Familiarity with various construction disciplines and safety regulations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of cost management processes, planning, and scheduling.
  • Knowledge of contract drawings and project documentation.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Exhibits integrity and ethical behavior in all actions, adhering to company policies.
  • Willingness and enthusiasm for travel and potential relocation.
  • Self-motivated and driven to complete tasks effectively.
  • Ability to access all areas of a construction site in diverse climates and environments.

Working Conditions

Regular, reliable attendance is essential. The role requires productive work and meeting deadlines. Effective communication and interaction with supervisors, employees, and others in both individual and team settings are crucial. Safety and adherence to instructions, including warning signs and equipment use, are mandatory. Flexibility to work during normal operating hours, including overtime and weekends, may be required. Work may occur at various locations with varying conditions.
