The Senior Project Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all operational departments, including client relations, management of project personnel, coordination with suppliers and subcontractors, and ensuring overall project safety, quality, planning, operations, cost management, and training.

District Overview

Kiewit's Southeast District is a prominent sector within Kiewit, focusing on infrastructure projects in heavy civil, transportation, and water resource markets. Potential projects may involve the construction of bridges, airports, mass transit systems, canals, dams, pump stations, or tunnels. While the majority of our projects are located in the southeastern United States, we also engage in various initiatives along the eastern coast. We seek individuals who are dedicated to infrastructure and committed to the construction industry rather than design.

Responsibilities

1. Technical Responsibilities

• Analyze projection and financial plans.

• Update 90-day discipline schedules and assess progress with team members.

• Review safety and equipment costs with the team.

• Determine equipment requirements with the Construction Manager.

• Conduct weekly departmental meetings, assessing weekly LDR reviews and commodity curves.

• Lead weekly scheduling discussions.

• Observe and evaluate operations, collaborating with the superintendent to enhance efficiency.

• Attend various crew safety meetings and provide feedback to the superintendent.

2. Administrative Responsibilities

• Maintain a daily log for record-keeping.

• Review daily expenditures.

• Prepare monthly cost reports for sections.

• Coordinate tasks with other team members on-site.

• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Project Manager.

Qualifications

Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field with relevant experience in construction. Hands-on field experience in supervisory roles within construction disciplines (e.g., Drainage, Earthworks, Structures, Concrete). Familiarity with various construction disciplines and safety regulations. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Understanding of cost management, planning, and scheduling processes. Knowledge of contract drawings and project documentation. Excellent organizational and time management abilities. Demonstrates integrity and ethical behavior in all aspects of work. Willingness to travel and/or relocate as necessary. Self-motivated and proactive in completing tasks. Ability to access all areas of a construction site in diverse climates and environments.

Working Conditions

Regular, reliable attendance is essential. Employees are expected to work productively and meet deadlines. Effective communication and interaction with supervisors and team members are required. Adherence to safety protocols and understanding of oral and written instructions is crucial. Flexibility to work during normal operating hours, including overtime and weekends, may be necessary. Work may occur at various locations with varying conditions.
