We are seeking a seasoned Ports Engineer Practice Lead to enhance our operations in the Southeast Region .

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and expand the ports practice within the Southeast Region
  • Engage in continuous business development initiatives
  • Recruit, manage, and inspire engineering staff
  • Conduct and oversee structural analysis and design for marine and upland components
  • Execute berthing and mooring analyses independently
  • Direct the creation of plans, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates for diverse port projects
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of maritime codes and standards, including UFC, PIANC, and ASCE-61
  • Prepare design basis, calculations, technical reports, and alternatives analyses
  • Utilize interdisciplinary insights to enhance project workflows and conduct QA/QC reviews
  • Participate in client meetings and perform site assessments
  • Mentor emerging port and maritime engineers
  • Leverage industry connections to promote Volkert's port services and facilitate cross-disciplinary collaboration
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as dictated by regional business needs

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • At least 10 years of experience in port structure analysis and design
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in Florida
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with medium to large-scale port/maritime structures and the preparation of relevant documentation
  • Proven track record in business development
  • Ability to recruit, manage, and motivate a team
  • Established relationships with port authorities in Florida
