Overview

The Commercial Banking Relationship Manager is responsible for cultivating and overseeing partnerships with enterprises generating annual revenues between $10 million and $35 million. This role involves offering a diverse range of commercial lending products and services tailored to the intricate needs of clients, emphasizing opportunities in commercial banking, deposits, treasury management, and lending solutions. The position plays a vital role in enhancing the bank's growth and profitability by increasing deposits and delivering additional financial services through direct engagement and cross-selling initiatives; also refers potential clients to Synovus partners.

Key Responsibilities

Oversees an assigned portfolio, strengthening existing relationships while focusing on commercial banking prospects, deposits, treasury management, and lending solutions. Achieves and surpasses sales targets in deposits, loans, fee income, and referrals. Cultivates new and existing client relationships through networking, identifying cross-selling opportunities, and making referrals to and from business product partners within the organization. Establishes and maintains a robust referral network to attract new client relationships, particularly targeting more complex business needs. Collaborates with branch management, serving as the primary liaison for business clients. Acts as the commercial banking authority for a designated branch or group of branches. May facilitate SBA loans by proactively developing and nurturing internal and external relationships. Actively manages client relationships by assessing financial requirements, providing tailored solutions, and ensuring exceptional customer service. Evaluates applicant financial information to determine creditworthiness and navigates challenging credit scenarios. Negotiates loan terms and makes decisions within established limits or provides recommendations. Monitors outstanding loans to ensure ongoing credit viability. Represents Synovus in the community by engaging with local organizations, participating in chambers of commerce, and taking part in related leadership activities. Complies with established lending policies and procedures. Collaborates with the commercial credit approval process to uphold underwriting and credit quality standards. Utilizes professional expertise, experience, and analytical criteria to make informed decisions and resolve issues; operates independently to determine methods and procedures for new assignments. May mentor, train, assign tasks, and review the work of junior team members. Each team member is expected to be cognizant of risks within their functional area, adhering to all policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should promptly report known or suspected violations to the appropriate company authority. Performs other related duties as necessary.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum Experience:

Ten years of relevant work experience, including sourcing new business, managing complex loan portfolios, navigating difficult credit situations, and maintaining customer relationships.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Exceptional sales and advisory capabilities. Proven credit assessment skills. In-depth understanding of lending guidelines and loan prerequisites. Strong business development calling abilities. Proficient in negotiation and influencing actions in a professional and effective manner.
