Primary Responsibilities:

  • Behavioral Assistance: Execute and adhere to the client’s behavioral and care strategies throughout the night, emphasizing therapeutic interventions and managing difficult behaviors. Be prepared to address instances of physical and verbal aggression, as well as elopement attempts, while managing the energetic nature typical of this demographic.
  • Supervision of Activities: Maintain a watchful and attentive presence during the shift to ensure the safety and well-being of the youth. Respond effectively to high-intensity situations or sudden behavioral changes.
  • Household Duties: Carry out various cleaning responsibilities to uphold a tidy, safe, and organized living environment. Manage any damage or disruption resulting from behavioral incidents.
  • Record Keeping: Complete and uphold comprehensive documentation as mandated by the client’s program and state regulations. Ensure accurate records of all incidents, behavioral challenges, and interventions.
  • Crisis Intervention: Utilize de-escalation techniques and therapeutic methods to manage and defuse aggressive or unsafe behaviors. Proactively prevent and address challenging situations, including behavioral escalations.
  • Awake Supervision: Remain alert and awake throughout the entire overnight shift to provide continuous oversight and support for the youth.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience: A High School Diploma is required. A minimum of three years of direct care experience with adolescents or adults facing disabilities, mental health challenges, and significant behavioral needs, including experience managing aggressive behaviors.
  • Age Requirement: Candidates must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities; capacity to document information clearly and accurately; proficient typing skills. Ability to manage stressful and potentially unsafe situations with composure.
  • Physical Demands: Capability to engage in high levels of physical activity, including biking, running, and hiking for extended durations; ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be physically equipped to manage and respond to aggressive behavior if necessary.
  • Driving: A valid Driver's License and reliable transportation are required.
  • Attitude: A positive and uplifting demeanor is essential to contribute to the mission of Joyous Care Services.
  • Preferred Experience: Previous experience working with youth exhibiting significant behavioral challenges is highly valued.

Work Schedule and Compensation:

  • Shift: Overnight shifts with a rotation of 7 days on and 7 days off.
  • Base Pay: $19 per hour.
  • Shift Differential: $22 per hour from 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM.
