POSITION SUMMARY:
This role is essential for providing supervision and assistance to students in various support environments, focusing on both academic and behavioral management within designated areas for student intervention.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee students assigned to specific support areas.
- Implement intervention strategies, including peer mediation and conflict resolution.
- Foster positive relationships with students to boost their self-esteem and encourage a love for learning.
- Assist students individually or in small groups with academic tasks as directed by classroom educators.
- Guide students in conflict resolution and management as needed.
- Communicate with parents as required.
- Prepare reports on student progress as requested by school administration.
- Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries with students and families.
- Uphold fairness, respect, and equity for all students and staff.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to meet the Highly Qualified criteria set by the district.
- Skills in teamwork, confidentiality, and effective communication.
- Willingness to engage in district-sponsored training opportunities.
- Ability to support students in fundamental academic skills.
- Exhibit professional behavior and appearance to create a positive learning atmosphere.
- Proficient in basic computer operations, including email and word processing.
- Ability to meet physical demands of the role.
- Consistent and reliable attendance.
- Communicate positively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Appreciate and respect diversity in all interactions.
- Training in Professional Crisis Management or willingness to obtain.
- Understanding of the academic and behavioral needs of elementary students.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred.
