About the Role

Mobis North America LLC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Brake Design Engineer to join our team in Plymouth, MI. As a key member of our Brake Engineering department, you will be responsible for designing and developing conventional and electronic braking systems for our OEM customers in the North American region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Lead the design and development of conventional and electronic brake component/system designs for new and existing OEM customer applications.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and project ownership, ensuring that designs meet customer requirements and are delivered on time.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and resources to meet project deadlines.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including application engineers, validation engineers, and project managers to ensure compliance with customer specifications and timing requirements.
  • Problem Solving: Analyze test results and analysis, and recommend corrective actions in cases of performance non-compliance.
  • Communication: Prepare and deliver presentation materials to communicate project information to stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in mechanical design for automotive applications, with a focus on brake design and development.
  • Skills: Solid understanding of design concepts, including mechanics, mechatronics, physics, kinematics, materials science, etc.
  • Tools: Proficient in commercial design and analysis tools, such as CATIA, Auto-Cad, Solid Works, ME-10, MATLAB, etc.

  • Problem-Solving Tools: Experience applying various problem-solving tools.
  • Commercial Tools: Demonstrated experience applying the use of commercial design and analysis tools.
  • Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal, writing, and verbal communication skills.
