As a Senior Accounting Specialist within our Finance Department, you will be responsible for various accounting tasks to ensure adherence to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This role is crucial for the monthly closing cycle, including the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and other financial reporting.

Your accounting expertise and enthusiasm for numbers will be essential in supporting our clients by:

  • Generating precise and actionable reconciliations for designated accounts each month promptly, ensuring a thorough understanding of account balances and activities while identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Executing the month-end closing activities and ensuring that any issues are identified and addressed, utilizing the Lawson general ledger system to guarantee accurate posting of journal entries to the appropriate departments and accounts.
  • Analyzing and clarifying variances between actual results and forecasts. Supporting the budgeting and forecasting process by developing the annual budget for specific areas.
  • Creating and distributing various weekly and monthly reports to assist the business in evaluating retail store performance, variances from plans, and financial statements.
  • Preparing schedules and requests for external auditors.
  • Maintaining the Lawson Asset Management system, which includes processing invoices, managing disposals, and transferring assets between locations.

We are seeking a candidate who:

  • Holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related discipline.
  • Has at least 2 years of experience in general ledger accounting, including journal entry and account reconciliation preparation. Experience in the retail sector is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Possesses familiarity with Lawson systems, though this is not required.
  • Demonstrates a strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
