As a Senior Accounting Specialist within our Finance Department, you will be responsible for essential accounting functions to ensure adherence to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This role is crucial to the monthly closing cycle, which includes the preparation of journal entries, month-end account reconciliations, and various reporting tasks.
Your expertise in accounting and enthusiasm for numbers will be vital in supporting our clients by:
- Generating precise and actionable reconciliations for designated accounts monthly, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of account balances and activities while identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Executing the month-end closing procedures and ensuring that any issues are identified and addressed using the Lawson general ledger system to guarantee accurate posting of journal entries to the appropriate departments and accounts.
- Analyzing and clarifying variances between actual outcomes and forecasts. Contributing to the budgeting and forecasting processes by formulating the annual budget for specific areas.
- Creating and disseminating various weekly and monthly reports to assist the business in evaluating retail store performance, variances from plans, and financial statements.
- Preparing schedules and requests for external auditors.
- Maintaining the Lawson Asset Management system, which includes processing invoices, asset disposals, and transfers between locations.
We are seeking candidates who:
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related discipline.
- Possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in general ledger accounting, including journal entry and account reconciliation preparation. Experience in the retail sector is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Have familiarity with Lawson systems, which is beneficial but not essential.
- Exhibit strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
