Role Summary

The Information Security Officer is tasked with supervising and reporting on the management and reduction of information security risks throughout the organization. This role is accountable for the outcomes of this oversight and reporting, as well as for executing the Bank's Information Security Program along with its associated strategy and objectives, as sanctioned by the Board of Directors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supervises and reports on the management and reduction of information security risks across the organization, directly reporting to the CEO.
  2. Executes the Bank's Information Security Program and related strategy and objectives, including compliance with established Information Security Standards and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act.
  3. Ensures that data access controls are assigned to the appropriate Data Owners and that reviews of access controls are conducted by designated data owners.
  4. Reviews and approves security exception requests that may expose the organization to risks.
  5. Drafts and reviews privacy and GLBA-related policies and procedures, submitting annual reports to the Board of Directors regarding privacy and GLBA matters.
  6. Monitors and addresses current and emerging risks, advising the Chief Technology Officer and Executive Management on developing and implementing strategies and controls to mitigate risks.
  7. Conducts ongoing compliance monitoring activities and performs risk assessments related to safeguarding customer information.
  8. Engages in major technology projects to ensure effective processes for risk management, particularly concerning cybersecurity.
  9. Collaborates with management in various business lines to understand new initiatives and provides insights on inherent information security risks.
  10. Promotes security awareness and training programs within the organization.
  11. Participates in industry collaborations to monitor and discuss emerging security threats, maintaining advanced knowledge of trends in the financial sector.
  12. Acts as a member of the Incident Response Team during technology incidents, assisting in establishing procedures to address security breaches.
  13. Serves on the Technology Committee to help define information security objectives and evaluate the success of related projects.
  14. Reports significant security incidents to the Board of Directors and relevant authorities as necessary.
  15. Responsible for enterprise-wide Business Continuity Planning, ensuring each department has an up-to-date plan for restoring critical services in the event of a disaster.
  16. Develops, implements, and monitors information security policies to ensure data integrity and compliance with legal and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Experience in information systems management and GLBA compliance within the financial services sector.
  • Preferred experience in regulatory audits and examinations in the financial services industry.
  • Educational background in business or financial industry-related fields.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree with relevant experience; a Master's degree is advantageous.
  • Preferred certifications include CISSP, CISM, CISA, or similar credentials.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS (SKILLS, ABILITIES, CHARACTERISTICS):
  • Advanced understanding of banking operations and related regulations.
  • Extensive experience in information technology operations and management.
  • Strong business judgment and decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
  • Outstanding organizational and communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical colleagues.
  • High-level problem-solving skills with a commitment to quality and client satisfaction.
  • Effective budget management capabilities.
