St. Luke's University Health Network (SLUHN), the largest and most established healthcare system in the region, is seeking board-certified or board-eligible subspecialty Ophthalmologists who have completed a fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to join a dedicated community of faculty, colleagues, and students at the Temple/St. Luke's School of Medicine. Responsibilities will encompass clinical care, education, and supervision of trainees and students, as well as scholarly activities. Additionally, in collaboration with the Network and the Chair of Ophthalmology, candidates may play a pivotal role in developing the Division of Pediatric Ophthalmology within the new Department of Ophthalmology at SLUHN, depending on their skills and interests.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct comprehensive history and physical examinations for all patients.
- Deliver cost-effective, high-quality care grounded in evidence-based medicine.
- Strive to adhere to standardized orders and practice guidelines approved by the medical staff.
- Exhibit proficiency in assessing treatment ranges, understanding growth and development, and communicating effectively with patients of all ages.
- Maintain regular, timely, and appropriate communication with referring physicians, patients, and their families.
- Engage in patient and family education.
- Assess and implement patient healthcare needs, performing routine examinations and obtaining patient histories. Manage treatment programs based on needs assessments, initiate treatments through prescriptions, diagnostic tests, and procedures, and review lab results to plan appropriate actions.
- Coordinate patient care and make referrals to other healthcare professionals as necessary.
- Collaborate with public and mental health agencies for patient care and family counseling as appropriate.
- Promote wellness habits and educate patients on preventing potential health issues or managing existing ones.
- Stay updated on current medical practices and skills.
- Ensure confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/Entity and adhere to proper information release protocols.
- Comply with Network and departmental policies regarding employee, patient, and environmental safety, following appropriate reporting requirements.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to sit for up to three (3) hours per day; stand for up to eight (8) hours per day; and walk for up to six (6) hours per day. Frequent use of hands for therapeutic procedures, with the ability to lift, carry, and push objects up to 10 pounds consistently, and occasionally up to 75 pounds. Must be able to perceive attributes of objects through touch, and have normal near, far, color, and peripheral vision, as well as hearing for normal conversation.
EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited medical school with completion of residency and/or fellowship in the specialty area.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Recent experience in the specialty area is required.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS: MD or DO, licensed by the state licensure board in the state of practice. Board Certified/Eligible in the specialty area by the appropriate medical board.
