Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Certified Recovery Support Specialist plays a crucial role in a therapeutic residential program aimed at assisting individuals involved with the justice system, specifically those aged 18 and older. These individuals often face challenges related to serious mental health conditions and have encountered legal issues. The program focuses on providing essential mental health treatment for those admitted under Conditional Release or those requiring competency restoration.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates the creation and execution of educational and support groups, alongside various program activities.
  • Offers guidance and support to individuals in developing skills outlined in their recovery plans, emphasizing the use of positive coping strategies.
  • Assists in daily living activities and self-care skills, including personal hygiene, grooming, and meal preparation.
  • Supports social skill development, vocational training, and community engagement, focusing on health and wellness.
  • Helps residents formulate WRAP plans and explore coping strategies to enhance their well-being.
  • Participates in treatment team meetings, aiding individuals in achieving their recovery goals as specified in their treatment plans.
  • Co-facilitates community meetings and peer-led initiatives to foster a supportive environment.
  • Accompanies individuals in recovery to various appointments and community activities.
  • Maintains thorough documentation of individual progress and challenges, ensuring compliance with record-keeping regulations.
  • Assists with meal preparation and adheres to dietary restrictions as necessary.
  • Conducts regular checks to ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals in recovery.
  • Participates in light cleaning and upkeep of the facility.
  • Reports any crises or unusual incidents promptly to the appropriate supervisory staff.
  • Engages in quality improvement initiatives as assigned.
  • Attends all required meetings and training sessions.
  • Adheres to all organizational policies and procedures without exception.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, with at least six months of relevant experience in mental health services.
  • Valid background clearances including PA State Criminal, FBI, and Child Abuse checks.
  • CPR with AED and First Aid certification.
  • Valid driver's license is required for travel within service areas.
  • Completion of a physical examination, including Hep B screening and TB test.
  • Certification as a Peer Specialist is mandatory.
