Qualifications:
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Master's degree that was conferred in behavior analysis or other natural science, education, human services, engineering, medicine or a field related to behavior analysis
  • 3 years experience working with persons with disabilities; experience with behavioral assessments and interventions
  • Works well independently
  • Skilled in teaching and coaching staff to implement Behavior Support Plans (BSP)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with the consumers with whom they are working
  • Ability to effectively complete necessary work-related documentation through paper and computer records systems
  • Valid driver’s license and personal automobile
Requirements:
  • Criminal Background Check:
Employee shall submit to a criminal background check and be determined not disqualified by the Department of Human Services prior to serving individuals.
  • CARI:
Employee shall complete an application to have their name checked against the Child Abuse Record Information Service.
  • Toxicology Screening:
Employee shall submit to drug testing prior to employment.

Employee shall submit to toxicology testing randomly and for cause.
  • Central Registry:
Employee shall agree to have their name checked against the Central Registry of Offenders against individuals with Developmental Disabilities.

Preferred:
  • BCBA certified


General Statement of Duties: Under the direction of the Vice-President of Clinical Services, the Behaviorist works directly with consumers and staff to assess and evaluate the behavioral management needs of persons we serve; develops behavioral prevention and intervention plans; and trains staff in successful implementation of the plans. This position will assist with crisis intervention, through on-call availability and possibly in person support.

Essential Job Functions:
  1. Meets with consumers as assigned to develop and implement Behavior Support Plans (BSP).
  2. Regularly reviews and revises the plan with input from key persons such as the consumer, Inter-disciplinary Team, family, and staff.
  3. Trains staff directly working with the consumer to implement the BSP; may model how to work with the consumer and directly intervene when challenging behavior occurs. May assist with general training of staff regarding behavior management.
  4. Compiles internal and external reports as required; analyzes data and makes recommendations.
  1. Acts as a member of a team addressing significant behavioral and/or medical changes in consumers.
  2. May be available by phone when emergencies occur; may assist in person.
  3. Maintains comprehensive notes and tracking records as required.
  4. Participates in team, agency staff meetings and required in service training sessions. Regularly communicates and meets with Supervisor.
  5. Remains current on relevant trends, service delivery requirements, and strategic issues and recommends strategies for service improvement or changes that will keep services at the highest quality.
  6. Ensures program records are properly maintained and reports are prepared and submitted on time, including but not limited to, time and attendance and electronic case records. Enters data into electronic consumer data base each day of work.
  7. Works cooperatively with program management to identify behavioral needs in all service delivery areas.
  8. Maintains confidentiality with storage of records and in communications.
  9. Assists managers in communicating with family members and friends of persons served as appropriate.
  10. Follows policies and procedures for behavior management system.
  11. Attends staff meetings as requested.
  12. Cooperates with agency and the (DHS) Department of Human Services staff regarding investigations and inspections.
  13. Completes other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
