Position Overview:

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) is in search of an External Affairs Associate Manager to support various legislative, engagement, and initiative-driven projects within the External Affairs Division.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Address inquiries from constituents and legislators.
  • Oversee Salesforce data management for the division.
  • Assist in the preparation and support of VEDP Board Meetings and presentations.
  • Manage and maintain division mailing lists.
  • Provide a weekly overview of upcoming legislation during the General Assembly session.
  • Help develop slides and presentations for legislative and partner engagements.
  • Monitor meetings with the General Assembly.
  • Support the partner relations team by coordinating staff efforts, updating information, and ensuring deadlines are met.

Required Skills:

  • Exceptional organizational abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with the Virginia legislative process and state governance.
  • Understanding of economic development practices.
  • Capability to handle multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience in conducting research and drafting documents such as white papers, legislative reports, and position statements.

Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of one year of experience in business, public relations, marketing, or a related field; government experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems, particularly Salesforce.
  • Willingness to travel within the state as required.
