Construction Supervisor

The City of Asheville's Streets Services Division of Public Works is seeking a highly skilled Construction Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for managing the staff and day-to-day operations of the Streets - Utility Cut Program and Right Of Way Cut Program.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise, direct, and evaluate assigned staff, planning, directing, and reviewing work of individuals and the team.
- Plan, direct, and coordinate work unit operations by developing and implementing policies, procedures, and methods.
- Provide internal and external customer service by responding to questions from the general public, building relationships, and networking.
- Organize, prioritize, and assign work, prioritizing and scheduling work activities to meet objectives.
- Coordinate closely with the Operations Manager on various issues, including budget, strategic goals, and coordination on division and departmental priorities.
- Develop, implement, and update policies and procedures for assigned functional areas.
- Manage financial activities for the area of assignment, making recommendations regarding budget allocations for staffing, equipment, and capital improvement needs.
- Monitor and maintain inventory for the Utility Cut Program and Right Of Way Cut Program and prepare reports related to department activities and operations.
- Manage projects and work activities in the area of assignment.
- Receive and respond to complaints of code, standards, and ordinance violations.
- Ensure adherence to established safety procedures.
- Associate degree in Business, Construction Management, or other related fields in the areas of roadway, sidewalk, or bridge construction and maintenance.
- Five years of experience in Standards and Specification and Ordinances inspection and enforcement, to include lead or supervisory experience.
- Ability to communicate clearly both orally and written.
- Ability to read and interpret roadway and structural plans.
- Ability to coordinate, manage, and/or correlate data.
- Ability to function in a managerial capacity for an organizational unit.
- Ability to operate, maneuver, and/or control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials requiring complex and/or rapid adjustments.
- Ability to utilize a wide variety of reference, descriptive, advisory, and/or design data and information.
- Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Ability to apply principles of influence systems, such as motivation, incentive, and leadership.
- Ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness, and creativity in situations involving the evaluation of information against sensory, judgmental, or subjective criteria.
- $66,293.38 per year.
