About Our Opportunity

The City of Asheville's Streets Services Division of Public Works is seeking a highly skilled Construction Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Streets - Utility Cut Program and Right Of Way Cut Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and direct a team of 3 employees, overseeing an overall workforce of 9 employees.
  • Manage the staff and day-to-day operations of the Streets - Utility Cut Program and Right Of Way Cut Program.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and methods to ensure efficient and effective program operations.
  • Provide internal and external customer service, responding to questions and providing information to the public.
  • Coordinate with the Operations Manager on budget, strategic goals, and division priorities.
  • Manage financial activities, including budget allocations and capital improvement needs.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory for the Utility Cut Program and Right Of Way Cut Program.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for assigned functional areas.
  • Ensure adherence to established safety procedures and maintain a current, comprehensive knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.
Requirements
  • Associate degree in Business, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Five years of experience in Standards and Specification and Ordinances inspection and enforcement, including lead or supervisory experience.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to read and interpret roadway and structural plans.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
