The Information Systems and Cyber Division (ISCD) integrates cutting-edge information system technologies, including elastic compute clouds, containerization, microservices, real-time operating systems, and visualization frameworks, with proficiency in cybersecurity, software architecture, software engineering, data science, artificial intelligence, process enhancement, and software development. This enables us to deliver responsive, resilient, and high-performance software-intensive systems to our intelligence community, Department of Defense, and civilian clientele.

The Cyber Security and Advanced Platforms Subdivision, specifically the Advanced Cryptographic Capabilities Section, is in search of a Cyber Security/Crypto Engineer. This role involves designing, implementing, assessing, and deploying cyber and cryptographic solutions to safeguard our nation's most critical assets in space. We are looking for a highly motivated Cyber Security/Crypto Engineering Specialist (Engineering Specialist - Cyber Security Architecture and Information Systems Security) eager to support clients across a comprehensive range of cybersecurity and cryptographic activities.

Work Model

This is a full-time position offering a hybrid work model that includes regular onsite workdays and remote flexibility as business needs permit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct engineering support to Space Systems Command, Chief Information Officer, and Space Systems Integration Office, Cryptographic Modernization Office.
  • Develop, analyze, and implement cryptographic and cybersecurity requirements for space initiatives.
  • Advise government clients and their program contractors on the design and implementation of cryptographic capabilities.
  • Conduct research in cyber, cryptographic, and network security domains.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with the implementation or certification of cryptographic and other cyber solutions for space systems.
  • Develop security risk assessments and undertake other systems engineering tasks as assigned.
  • Support the creation of space mesh network and key management architectures.
  • Provide recommendations on network architectures and solutions based on technical performance evaluations.
  • Contribute to the development of security and cryptographic prototypes.

Qualifications for Success

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field.
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in cybersecurity or cryptography.
  • Experience in writing or fulfilling engineering requirements and design specifications.
  • Experience with assessments or systems engineering/architecting of cybersecurity solutions or cryptographic products.
  • This position requires a current TS security clearance with SCI eligibility, issued by the US Government. U.S. citizenship is necessary to obtain a security clearance.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in performing vulnerability assessments and mitigation.
  • Understanding of network engineering and architecture (TCP/IP, IPSEC, HTTP/S, routing protocols).
  • Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time.
  • A demonstrable history of contributions to cyber assessments, prototype development, and/or cyber research.

Preferred Qualifications

It would be advantageous if you possess one or more of the following:

  • An accredited advanced degree or certificate in information systems security or a similar program.
  • Direct involvement in or leadership of cryptographic certification efforts.
  • A proven track record in designing and integrating cryptographic solutions for satellites.
  • Experience with space acquisition policies, processes, and/or budgeting.
  • Exposure to diverse space systems and missions.
  • A decade of experience in Information Technology or Cybersecurity.

We offer a competitive compensation package where you will be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our organization. The grade-based pay range for this position is provided below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through various factors, including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, and skills.
