The Information Systems and Cyber Division (ISCD) at The Aerospace Corporation is recognized as a leading engineering firm and scientific authority in electronics and cybersecurity for space systems.

We are seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer (Engineering Specialist/Senior Engineering Specialist - Cyber Security Architecture and Information Systems Security) to support our clientele in a flexible work model. We are in search of a seasoned engineer capable of offering expertise across various cyber domains. Occasional travel may be necessary for this position.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead teams and initiatives in software security, cloud security, container security, mission assessments, orchestration and automation technologies, spacecraft cyber analytics, and continuous monitoring.
• Contribute directly to cybersecurity prototype initiatives and provide system security engineering support to Aerospace Program Office clients. Aid in developing and assigning project tasks to junior engineers.
• Guide junior staff and interns throughout the year, assisting with intern projects during the summer.
• Identify and assess new tools, technologies, and methodologies that can enhance cyber operations.
• Collaborate with other Aerospace divisions and external entities to create new technical demonstrations and capabilities.
• Engage in research or technical development with government, industry, and academic partners to foster innovative capabilities.
• Offer cybersecurity guidance across various programs in multiple cybersecurity domains.

Qualifications for Success

Engineering Specialist - Cyber Security Architecture and Information Systems Security

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's or advanced degree from an accredited institution in Information Security/Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in cybersecurity, systems engineering, software development, embedded systems, or similar areas.
• This role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance issued by the U.S. government; U.S. citizenship is necessary for clearance eligibility.
• Proven ability to initiate and complete tasks, learn new technical methods, mentor junior staff, lead technical projects, and effectively interact with a diverse range of organizations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills along with interpersonal abilities. Demonstrate a high level of creativity, innovation, and initiative.
• Experience with project management tools such as Jira or MS Project, and comfortable assigning tasks in an agile work environment.
• Proficient in one or more programming languages, including but not limited to C, C++, Java, and Python.
• Experience in various cybersecurity domains such as application security, defensive cyber operations, vulnerability analysis, cryptography, network security, embedded systems security, secure FPGA/ASIC design, reverse engineering, zero trust architectures, or malware analysis.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity policies, including the Risk Management Framework (RMF) or NIST SP.
• Possession of at least one cybersecurity certification (CISSP, C|EH, SANS, etc.).

In addition to the above, the minimum requirements for the Senior Engineering Specialist - Cyber Security Architecture and Information Systems Security include:

• Meeting all the above qualifications.
• Demonstrated experience leading small to medium-sized teams of engineers to achieve technical objectives.
• Proven mentorship of junior engineers to develop essential workplace and technical skills.
• DoD 8570 IAT/IAM III Certified.
• A minimum of 12 years of relevant experience across multiple engineering fields such as cybersecurity, systems engineering, software development, embedded systems, or similar.

Preferred Qualifications

It would be advantageous if you possess one or more of the following:

• Advanced degree from an accredited institution in cybersecurity.
• Current and active Top-Secret clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information access (TS/SCI).
• Experience with SIEM tools, EDR/XDR tools, SOAR tools, scanning and reconnaissance, penetration testing, and integration of software products and/or data sources.
• Expertise in bash, shell, PowerShell, and basic scripting on Linux and Windows platforms.
• Solid understanding of satellite system design and technology.
• Familiarity with various cyber tools such as Kali Linux and competitive cyber experience (e.g., capture the flag).
• Experience with orchestration and automation tools (Jenkins, Puppet, Chef, SOAR, etc.).
• Experience with various cloud services (AWS, VMWare, Azure, DISA milCloud).
