The primary responsibility of the Cybersecurity System Security Engineer involves working within Special Access Programs (SAPs) to support acquisition programs. This role will deliver daily support for Collateral, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and Special Access Program (SAP) activities to fulfill NIST Cybersecurity requirements for system assessment and authorization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of System Security Engineers and Certification and Accreditation Analysts to ensure the protection of national and international security interests during the design and testing of acquisition systems.
  • Chair or Co-Chair Cybersecurity working groups within the customer and SAP community, and participate in System Security Engineering Integrated Product Team (SSE IPT) reviews.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of information system security program policies, with a focus on integrating existing SAP network infrastructures.
  • Provide expert consultation and technical services on all aspects of Information Security.
  • Review designs related to System Security Engineering and offer security compliance recommendations.
  • Develop and present Cybersecurity risk management recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Support the design and development of Mission and Training systems.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of the Program Protection Plan and Cybersecurity Strategy.
  • Support site activation activities and design reviews, including testing and evaluation of systems.
  • Represent the Government Program Manager in various working groups and advisory meetings related to System Security Engineering.
  • Collaborate directly with approval and accreditation authorities to secure systems' Authorization to Operate.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or an equivalent of 4 additional years of experience.
  • A minimum of 12 years of total experience, including at least 8 years in an SCI or SAR environment.
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience in SAP is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with security policies/manuals and relevant ICDs/JAFANs/DOD Manuals.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Joint SAP Implementation Guide (JSIG) processes for system accreditation, along with legacy processes (DITSCAP, DIACAP).
  • Must meet position and certification requirements outlined in DoD Directive M for Information Assurance Technician Level 3 and Information Assurance Manager Level 3 within 6 months of hire. CISSP is recommended.
  • US Citizenship is required
  • Current Top Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility
  • Eligibility for access to Special Access Program Information
  • Willingness to undergo a Counterintelligence polygraph.

  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and effectively collaborate with various DOD, military/civilian personnel, and industry partners.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Exhibit a high degree of originality, creativity, and initiative with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to travel within the organizational Area of Responsibility (AOR), which may involve extensive air and ground transportation.

The projected compensation range for this position is $134,700-$224,700. Various factors can influence the final salary or hourly rate, including Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills, competencies aligned with the role, geographic location, education, and certifications.
