Role Overview

The Vice President of US Marketing is a pivotal leadership position responsible for overseeing Avidity's brand strategy and execution within the United States. Reporting to the regional leader, this role encompasses various marketing functions, including healthcare professional (HCP), patient engagement, and digital marketing initiatives. The VP will build and mentor a marketing leadership team and participate in the US commercial leadership team, collaborating across departments to facilitate product launches and market entry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead a comprehensive US Marketing team focused on brand management, HCP engagement, patient outreach, and digital strategies.
  • Oversee pre-commercialization marketing efforts, including brand strategy, patient identification, and digital initiatives.
  • Formulate a detailed marketing plan that aligns with corporate objectives, encompassing brand positioning, messaging, and target demographics (patients, HCPs, caregivers, etc.).
  • Collaborate with Medical Affairs and patient advocacy to enhance educational initiatives for HCPs and patients.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), patient advocacy organizations, and healthcare professionals.
  • Work alongside the global franchise lead to shape product and brand positioning.
  • Convert brand and physician insights into actionable marketing strategies.
  • Manage the creation and implementation of multi-channel marketing campaigns across diverse platforms.
  • Ensure compliance with US regulations and guidelines related to marketing for rare diseases, contributing to an efficient medical and legal review process.
  • Engage proactively with key business partners and regions, including Global Program Heads and global marketing teams.
  • Collaborate with IT to develop a technology platform that supports product launches.
  • Partner with external agencies and collaborators to achieve marketing goals.
  • Oversee the marketing budget, ensuring optimal resource allocation to maximize return on investment (ROI).
  • Collaborate with sales leadership to develop effective sales materials.
  • Work with the training team to onboard new marketing team members.
  • Create a communication strategy to promote our patient services initiatives.
  • Establish clear objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing campaigns.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • At least 15 years of experience in the life sciences sector.
  • Extensive knowledge of strategic and brand marketing, including omni-channel approaches.
  • A minimum of 8 years leading regional marketing teams.
  • Experience in various organizational structures.
  • Prior collaboration with KOLs and clinical investigators.
  • Proven ability to develop talent and foster a positive culture.
  • Familiarity with US regulatory processes and product launches.
  • Experience in launching and commercializing treatments for rare diseases in the US market.
  • Background in antibody delivery or siRNA and project management is advantageous.
  • Exceptional communication skills (both oral and written), along with strong leadership and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to work from the La Jolla office at least 40% of the time.
  • Ability to travel as necessary, up to 30%.

  • The base salary range for this position is $300,000-350,000, with final compensation based on relevant experience, skills, internal equity, and market conditions.
