Community Options, Inc. is a national non-profit organization dedicated to providing residential group home, day habilitation, and supported employment services for individuals with disabilities across 12 states.

We are currently looking for an Area Vice President to manage operations in Arizona, Utah, Iowa, and New Mexico. This role reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and is accountable for all operational functions within the designated regions. Key responsibilities include overseeing executive leadership, program development, fiscal management, quality assurance, contract compliance, and accreditation matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Travel requirement of at least 65% across Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and Iowa.
  • Collaborate with the executive management team to meet corporate objectives related to growth, licensing, financial oversight, and capacity building.
  • Establish both long-term and short-term goals for the assigned regions.
  • Ensure compliance with state licensing and reporting standards.
  • Engage with various state legislative and regulatory authorities to negotiate program terms.
  • Provide financial oversight for the assigned territory, including budget development and management, ensuring adherence to company policies.
  • Facilitate the creation of local advisory boards to enhance resource development and expansion.
  • Propose innovative approaches, policies, and procedures to improve operational efficiency and service delivery.
  • Identify and recommend suitable grant and funding opportunities.
  • Coordinate fundraising initiatives to effectively advocate for the national organization’s needs and enhance the funding base.
  • Uphold a positive public image for Community Options.
  • Advise on sound personnel practices in recruitment, compensation, and performance management.
  • Make recommendations for program enhancements.
  • Prepare necessary statistical, financial, and service reports as required.
  • Interface with local, state, and governmental agencies.
  • Assist in inspections, inquiries, or investigations as needed.
  • Stay informed by obtaining information from professional sources.
  • Participate in board meetings as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the President/CEO.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; a master's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in administrative and supervisory roles.
  • Completion of First Aid, CPR, OSHA, and Medication Certification courses within the first 90 days of employment, along with any required residential or state training.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Commitment to community-based support for individuals with disabilities.
  • Understanding of organizational dynamics and funding sources.
  • Flexibility to engage with various stakeholders, including management, employees, board members, auditors, employer groups, and industry associations.
  • Ability to effectively present facts and recommendations in both oral and written formats.
  • Excellent time management skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Frequent travel throughout designated regions is necessary; 65% travel is required.
  • Occasional physical exertion may be required for the positioning of consumers or equipment.
  • On-call availability for emergencies, in cooperation with other agency staff.
  • Work will occur in the community and Community Options homes.
  • Exposure to various medical conditions and communicable diseases may occur.
