Our mission is to foster and support individualized mentoring relationships that empower youth through the guidance of caring adults. By collaborating with families, volunteers, and community partners, we are dedicated to ensuring that every child in our program aspires to greater achievements, builds confidence, develops positive relationships, avoids risky behaviors, and succeeds academically.
Position Summary: The Chief Program Officer is a key leadership role focused on external engagement, overseeing the comprehensive array of programs in the Metro Albuquerque area, including community-based initiatives and specialized mentoring programs. This position requires proactive collaboration with various stakeholders, including educational institutions, non-profit organizations, community groups, and business entities, to design and implement effective youth mentoring strategies that cater to local needs and promote youth empowerment.
This role also involves managing the Program Leadership Team, which consists of over 20 staff members responsible for recruitment, enrollment, and support services, ensuring exceptional service delivery to volunteers, youth, families, and community partners. Adhering to established standards of practice, the CPO will prioritize child safety, operational efficiency, and alignment with the organization's mission across all program functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Act as the principal strategic leader and representative with program partners, developing and executing innovative strategies to achieve organizational objectives.
- Community Partnership Development: Identify and cultivate collaborative opportunities with diverse stakeholders, establishing mutually beneficial partnerships that enhance program offerings.
- Program Oversight: Oversee the development and enhancement of existing programs, ensuring effective service delivery from recruitment through to program completion.
- Recruitment and Marketing: Design and implement comprehensive recruitment strategies to attract mentors, including maintaining media partnerships and social media outreach.
- Collaboration and Teamwork: Work closely with executive leadership to create and implement new programs, ensuring alignment with national standards and organizational goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- A minimum of three years of progressive leadership experience in partnership development or a related field.
- At least five years of leadership experience in program management, including three years in a senior management capacity.
- Proven track record in developing and executing strategic program plans that align with organizational goals.
- Strong leadership capabilities with experience in managing diverse teams.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders.
Preferred Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of community partners to enhance mentor recruitment.
- Familiarity with funding opportunities and donor engagement.
- Understanding of the Big Brothers Big Sisters service delivery model and standards.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel within the service area using a personal vehicle.
- Willingness to attend evening and weekend events as necessary.
- Capability to transport equipment and materials for events and activities.
