Job Summary

The Maintenance Supervisor - Operations Manager is a critical role within Vulcan Materials, responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the plant and ensuring a safe working environment. This position requires a strong leader who can motivate and direct a team of production and maintenance employees to achieve optimal plant performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and Coordinate Production and Maintenance Activities
    • Direct and oversee the daily activities of production and maintenance employees to ensure efficient plant operations.
    • Coordinate with the Plant Manager to develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demands.
  • Ensure a Safe Working Environment
    • Enforce company safety policies and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
    • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Manage Maintenance and Repair Operations
    • Oversee the maintenance and repair of plant equipment and facilities to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
    • Develop and implement maintenance schedules to prevent equipment failures and reduce maintenance costs.
  • Lead and Develop a High-Performing Team
    • Recruit, train, and develop production and maintenance employees to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to perform their jobs effectively.
    • Provide coaching and feedback to employees to improve performance and address any issues or concerns.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams
    • Work closely with sales, marketing, and other departments to ensure alignment and effective communication.
    • Participate in business planning and strategy development to drive growth and improvement.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., business, engineering, operations management) or equivalent experience.
    • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in production and maintenance management, preferably in the construction materials industry.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and direct a team.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
    • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions to drive business improvement.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Physical and Environmental Demands
    • Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
    • Ability to work in a variety of settings, including outdoors and in a plant environment.
