R&D Maintenance Services, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Grounds Maintenance Technician to join our team supporting the Tennessee Tombigbee Waterway Project in Columbus, MS.

We provide essential operations and maintenance services for U.S Army Corps of Engineers projects throughout the Southeast. Our commitment to excellence extends to maintaining the waterway, recreation areas, and locks/dams/spillways that make up this vital system.

General Description:

As a Grounds Maintenance Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the upkeep and beauty of our facilities. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks, from grounds maintenance and facility cleaning to trail and road upkeep. You may work independently or as part of a team, assisting skilled craftspeople with various maintenance and repair projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Operate hand and powered lawn/grounds equipment to maintain the landscape.
  • Clean facilities, restrooms, and showers; remove trash and refuse to ensure a clean and sanitary environment.
  • Plant and maintain grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs to enhance the aesthetic appeal of our properties.
  • Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies as needed for various projects.
  • Repair and paint fences, gates, benches, tables, guardrails, and outbuildings to ensure their structural integrity and visual appeal.
  • Assist with lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and work pieces during installation projects.
  • Perform minor maintenance and cleaning activities for tools and equipment to ensure their proper functioning.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote efficiency and safety.
  • Work both indoors and outdoors, potentially operating a motor vehicle for transportation purposes.
  • Adhere to R&D's Safety and Quality Control Programs to maintain a safe and high-quality work environment.
  • Demonstrate dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

To succeed in this role, you should possess the following:

  • Proficiency in using hand tools (rakes, brooms, hoes, etc.), power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment commonly used in grounds and facilities maintenance.
  • Physical ability to frequently stand; walk; push; pull; reach with hands and arms; stoop; kneel; and crouch.
  • Strength to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and the capacity to exert physical effort for moderate to heavy work, involving combinations of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
  • Good vision (close, distance, color, and depth perception) either naturally or with the aid of corrective lenses.
  • A flexible attitude and willingness to assist various trades/crafts when necessary.
  • Ability to read and follow instructions accurately. Effective communication skills are essential for clear interaction with co-workers and supervisors.
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

To be considered for this position, you must meet the following criteria:

  • 1-3 years of verifiable experience in grounds maintenance or a related field.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
