Senior Procurement Specialist

This role involves overseeing the acquisition of high-impact and technically intricate materials, ensuring optimal vendor performance and adherence to compliance standards. The specialist will identify and address both routine and complex procurement challenges while assessing plans to determine necessary adjustments to forecasts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Procures high-impact and technically complex materials to fulfill Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) 'planned order' requirements, ensuring alignment with domestic and global demand.
  • Accurately integrates international and subsidiary demands into monthly purchasing as dictated by business needs.
  • Manages order placements and oversees vendor delivery schedules.
  • Proactively identifies potential issues, monitoring for anticipated product shortages, non-conforming materials, and excess or obsolete inventory, ensuring timely resolutions.
  • Evaluates risks, formulates alternative solutions, and assesses impacts on product delivery, effectively communicating issues and resolutions to internal teams, including sourcing and product management.
  • Oversees daily vendor performance and fulfillment, reviewing contracts to ensure compliance with expectations and terms, and determining the necessity for modifications.
  • Facilitates the development of partnerships with suppliers to manage internal and vendor-consigned inventories, aiming to reduce inventory ownership and lead times.
  • Analyzes and troubleshoots quality issues, collaborating with both internal and external teams to achieve resolutions, while focusing on minimizing freight expenses and material management costs.
  • Generates key reports with metrics and benchmarks to enhance purchasing and supplier management processes.
  • Participates in reviewing annual forecast plans and collaborates with planning teams to ensure inventory availability, also contributing to the management of excess and obsolete materials.
  • Performs additional duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: A Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, purchasing, or a related field.

Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement or buying within a manufacturing or consumer goods context is typically required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Proficient in resolving complex issues and analyzing potential solutions using technical expertise and sound judgment.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office and MRP software, with the ability to generate detailed reports that reflect quality, processes, benchmarks, and expense data for informed decision-making.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain management, production, and inventory control methodologies.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of receiving, quality assurance, engineering, and material flow processes.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with various internal teams, external vendors, and employees at all levels.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within teams.
