Development Director

The Assistant Director of Development, Major Gifts plays a pivotal role in driving revenue growth for Children's National Hospital, with a specific focus on securing funds for the Joseph E. Robert, Jr. Center for Surgical Care.
Key Responsibilities- Contribute to the development and implementation of a comprehensive major gifts strategy to increase revenue and support the hospital's mission.
- Identify, cultivate, and solicit relationships with high-capacity donors, families, and targeted groups to secure significant gifts.
- Manage a portfolio of annual gift and low-level major gift donors and prospects, with a target revenue goal of $500,000.
- Collaborate with surgery center clinicians and team members to develop and execute donor strategies.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with donors, ensuring exceptional stewardship and communication.
- Stay up-to-date on the hospital's programs and services, effectively communicating the mission and impact to donors.
- Utilize The Raiser's Edge software and other donor-related platforms to track and manage donor data.
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- 4 years of technical development experience, with a proven record in lower-level major gifts, high-end annual gifts, or special event execution.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including phone skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills, demonstrating poise, tact, patience, and courtesy.
- Ability to manage time and task completion effectively.
- Strong familiarity with The Raiser's Edge software and/or other donor-related platforms.
- Anticipate and respond to customer needs, following up until needs are met.
- Demonstrate collaborative and respectful behavior, partnering with all team members to achieve goals.
- Contribute to a positive work environment, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to change.
- Identify opportunities to improve clinical and administrative processes.
- Make appropriate decisions, using sound judgment.
