The Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault (MOCSA) has been a pivotal entity in the Kansas City area since its inception in 1975. Our mission is to enhance the lives of individuals affected by sexual abuse and assault while actively working to prevent sexual violence within our community. POSITION SUMMARY

This role is essential for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of all payroll processing functions. Additionally, this position will provide comprehensive accounting support, including assistance with grants accounting, cash management, and month-end closing procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Payroll and Human Resources Management
    1. Gather all payroll and employee benefit information and process payroll according to the established schedule.
    2. Maintain employee benefit records and collaborate with vendors to ensure accurate updates for enrollments and changes.
    3. Coordinate with the payroll processor to guarantee that all wage, benefit, deduction, and tax data is accurately processed.
    4. Reconcile payroll and employee benefits against invoices and enrollment records.
    5. Oversee payroll operations and assist with other aspects of the Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
    6. Support new-hire orientation, including payroll and tax information, benefits enrollment, and other necessary tasks.
    7. Provide ongoing assistance to employees regarding payroll and benefit enrollments, modifications, and terminations.
  2. Accounting Support
    1. Assist with various accounting functions, including cash receipts, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
    2. Utilize bookkeeping software, spreadsheets, and databases with precision.
    3. Record financial transactions, including receiving and documenting vouchers, cash, and checks using accounting software.
    4. Identify, correct, and report any discrepancies found in financial records.
    5. Engage in additional accounting tasks as directed by the Accounting Manager.
  3. Grants Management
    1. Conduct financial activities related to grants management, including billing, data analysis, allocation of personnel costs, and budget modifications.
    2. Assist with compliance activities for grants, including resource and budget tracking, grant reporting to both internal and external stakeholders, and preparation of documentation for grant evaluations.
    3. Compile necessary documentation for grant reporting, including professional development and timekeeping records.

The responsibilities outlined above represent the primary duties of this position. Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on organizational needs. The incumbent is expected to fulfill all assigned tasks. Grant funds are designated solely for approved activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Requirements:

Associate's degree or two years of general accounting experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Familiarity with accounting systems, handling confidential information, and clerical tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, business/nonprofit administration, or a related field. Advanced skills in Excel. Experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS). Knowledge of payroll processes, nonprofit accounting, grants compliance, and customer service.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is full-time, with standard business hours from Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be necessary based on job responsibilities. MOCSA offers flexible scheduling within a hybrid work environment.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Occasional travel may be required within the Kansas City metropolitan area.

EMPLOYEE BENEFITS

Full-time employees are entitled to 15 days of vacation, 15 paid holidays, 12 sick days, a birthday holiday, winter break, 89% employer-covered health insurance, 100% employer-paid dental, life, and long-term disability insurance, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and a 2% 403(b) match. The salary range for this position is $54,000 - $65,000, contingent upon experience, credentials, and education. The upper end of the salary range is typically reserved for current employees and those with advanced qualifications and experience.
