Job Overview

The Investment Operations Associate is chiefly accountable for all transactional processing that supports Wealth Management accounts within the trust and/or bond accounting systems. This role may involve the establishment and maintenance of securities, transactional processing, trade execution and settlement, foreign currency exchange, valuations, and reconciliations. The position collaborates closely with account officers in Wealth Management, as well as Operations & Technology, Risk, Compliance, and Audit departments, external depositories, vendors, and brokers to ensure accurate reflection of client accounts for performance and reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure all security transactions, daily processes, documentation, and/or agreements are executed promptly, accurately, and in accordance with policy guidelines.
  • Utilize your expertise in securities processing and Wealth Management to continually define, visualize, measure, analyze, improve, report, and control processes to meet internal and external customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Address complex issues promptly to minimize potential losses to the bank and/or client, while providing support to auditors, compliance, account officers, investment managers, and support personnel.
  • Test and document reports necessary to support daily operations and long-term strategic decisions.
  • Proactively collaborate with various groups to identify solutions or resources for project completion and/or exception processing.
  • Engage with internal employees and management, as well as external clients, to resolve issues and/or provide education regarding processes or key technology solutions.
Qualifications

This level of expertise is typically acquired through the completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, along with 1-4 years of directly related experience in a high-volume securities operations environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Proficient in PC and operating software applications.
  • Strong research, analytical, and organizational skills; capable of planning and coordinating the movement of potentially large volumes of transactions. Must demonstrate experience in independently solving complex problems and identifying appropriate resources while adhering to stringent deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, leadership capability, and professional etiquette, including oral and written communication skills. Ability to convey information clearly and concisely and to gain consensus among parties with differing interests.
  • Working knowledge of a broad range of securities and Wealth Management accounting systems.
  • Familiarity with accounting principles and practices, emphasizing reconciliation and detail-oriented tasks in a potentially high-volume environment. A general understanding of trust and/or bond accounting is preferable.
  • Ability to enhance efficiency, track complex activities, and improve methodologies.
