Securities Operations Specialist I

The Securities Operations Specialist I plays a crucial role in managing all transactional activities that support Wealth Management accounts within the trust and/or bond accounting systems. This includes the establishment and upkeep of securities, processing transactions, executing trades, managing settlements, handling foreign currency exchanges, conducting valuations, and performing reconciliations. This role collaborates closely with account officers in Wealth Management, as well as with Operations & Technology, Risk, Compliance, and Audit departments, along with external depositories, vendors, and brokers to ensure accurate representation of client accounts for performance and reporting needs.

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of all security transactions, daily processes, documentation, and agreements in accordance with policy guidelines.
- Utilize your expertise in securities processing and Wealth Management to continuously define, visualize, measure, analyze, improve, report, and control processes to meet both internal and external customer and regulatory standards.
- Address complex issues promptly to minimize potential losses for the bank and clients, while providing support to auditors, compliance teams, account officers, investment managers, and other personnel.
- Test and document necessary reports to support daily operations and long-term strategic decisions.
- Proactively collaborate with various groups to identify solutions or resources needed for project completion and exception processing.
- Engage with internal staff and management, as well as external clients, to resolve issues and provide education regarding processes or key technology solutions.
This position typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, along with 1-4 years of relevant experience in a high-volume securities operations setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficient in advanced PC and operating software applications.
- Strong research, analytical, and organizational skills, with the ability to plan and coordinate large volumes of transactions. Demonstrated experience in independently resolving complex issues while adhering to strict deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely. Proven ability to build consensus among parties with differing interests.
- Familiarity with a wide range of securities and Wealth Management accounting systems.
- Understanding of accounting principles and practices, particularly in reconciliation and detail-oriented tasks within a high-volume environment. Knowledge of trust and/or bond accounting is advantageous.
- Ability to enhance efficiency, track complex activities, and refine methodologies.
