Manufacturing Test Support Specialist

The Manufacturing Test Support Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting production testing, fault analysis, and repair operations to meet quality objectives and ensure timely delivery of systems in alignment with the overall production timeline.

This position serves as the initial support contact for the production team and facilitates communication with the Engineering and Diagnostic development teams.

Collaboration with cross-functional production and management teams is essential to fulfill and surpass customer expectations.


Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing Test Validation
  • Assess Manufacturing Test on production hardware.
  • Facilitate feedback loops and process enhancements.
  • Compile failure summary reports.

Hardware Testing for New Product Introductions (NPI)
  • Act as the primary contact for NPI products during testing.
  • Oversee the execution of the testing process.
  • Provide daily updates on testing status relative to shipping schedules.
  • Drive resolution of all outstanding testing issues.
  • Conduct risk assessments and propose potential workarounds.

System Testing
  • Become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all aspects of Manufacturing Test execution.

System Updates and Verification
  • Implement system test scripts and processes.

Customer Acceptance Testing
  • Serve as the SME and first line of support for end-of-line customer acceptance tests.
  • Maintain Golden Racks for development purposes.
  • Monitor yield rates and cycle times.

Continuous Improvement Initiatives
  • Collaborate with the production team to drive ongoing enhancements.
  • Provide technical analysis for testing challenges and obstacles.
  • Engage in low-level debugging and troubleshooting.
  • Prepare high-level summary reports for executives and clients.

System Failure Analysis and Repair
  • Generate failure summary reports, prioritized for resolution.
  • Troubleshoot system errors to implement corrective measures.
  • Identify false failures resulting from the testing process.
  • Offer feedback to manufacturing for process optimization.

Sustaining Support
  • Deliver ongoing support and training for testing and repair of mass-produced products.

Issue Management
  • Oversee and escalate issues affecting systems in testing, ensuring communication with:
    • Peer technicians
    • Leads
    • Supervisors

Continuous Improvement / 5S Support
  • Collaborate with the extended team to identify and implement process improvements and 5S initiatives:
    • Peer technicians
    • Leads
    • Supervisors
    • Management
    • Engineering

Qualifications
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • High level of integrity and strong work ethic.
  • Capability to collaborate across engineering and production teams.
  • Effective communication of issues to all employee levels.

Education
  • High school diploma or higher in a relevant field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Associate's degree in IT or a related field is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • CompTIA A+ or Network+ certifications are beneficial but not required.

Experience
  • Familiarity with Microsoft OS VISTA/WIN7/Server/Office suite and basic Linux.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, and Word).
  • One year of experience in PC system-related hardware or networking is beneficial but not required.
