Position Title: IT Support Specialist

Role Overview:

The North Carolina Administrative Office of the Courts (NCAOC) is seeking a skilled and dedicated IT Support Specialist to deliver technical assistance for information technology systems utilized by judicial staff in Buncombe County. This role encompasses the configuration and support of various IT components, including but not limited to switches, servers, desktop systems, laptops, and printers across the Judicial Branch.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver technical support aligned with Service Level Agreements established by the NCAOC's IT department.
  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware and software for judicial personnel.
  • Ensure seamless integration of computer systems and components.
  • Stay updated on evolving hardware and software technologies.
  • Support local area networks by installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting network hardware and software.
  • Engage with Judicial Branch staff and local government representatives.
  • Identify customer issues through active listening and facilitate necessary corrections or vendor assistance.
  • Coordinate moves and relocations of judicial facilities.
  • Provide training to judicial staff as required.
  • Evaluate and recommend hardware and software configurations.
  • Participate in significant technology deployment initiatives, including software updates and system upgrades.

Work Conditions:
Work is primarily conducted in an office environment, with occasional lifting of heavy equipment (up to 75 pounds). Caution is required when handling electrical components during computer configurations.

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field from an accredited institution, along with one year of relevant experience in information technology.
Preferred Experience: A minimum of four years in a related IT role is preferred.
Certifications: Professional certifications such as MCP, MCSE, CompTIA A+, Network+, or CCNA are recommended but not mandatory for this position.
