Position Responsibilities:

The Youth Support Coordinators will report to the Quality Supervisors and the Chief Administrator, collaborating with an Administrative Team to oversee various aspects of the residential experience for youth. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting assessments for each youth through CANS and FANS evaluations to implement necessary services for their success.
  • Coordinating with family members, MDHHS workers, and community agencies to facilitate Family Team Meetings and attend essential meetings that support the youth's transition.
  • Working with local resources to establish services tailored to each youth's specific needs and assisting in identifying mentors and support systems.

Additionally, Youth Support Coordinators will participate in developing initial service plans within 30 days of youth placement and continue to update these plans quarterly. Collaboration with the Independent Living skills trainer and other administrative team members is crucial to ensure youth and their families are prepared for transitions.

  • Effectively de-escalating conflicts and managing aggressive behaviors.
  • Upholding all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Completing necessary documentation during shifts, including incident reports and communication logs.
  • Demonstrating empathy towards residents from diverse backgrounds.
  • Attending all monthly staff meetings and training sessions.

Qualifications:

  • B.A. or B.S. Degree in Social Work or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid Michigan driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Exceptional leadership, conflict resolution, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to interact positively with residents, staff, and administrators.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with individuals with mental health diagnoses or cognitive impairments.
  • Background in engaging with culturally diverse groups.
  • 2-3 years of experience working with developmentally disabled youth.

Work Environment: This role operates in a supportive, home-like setting with youth aged 10 to 17, requiring consistent interaction and engagement in a fast-paced environment.

Position Type: The facility operates 24/7, and this position may be part-time or full-time, with potential extended hours as needed.
