Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The Restorative Justice Program Coordinator is tasked with implementing school-based restorative justice initiatives through a transformative approach. This role involves collaborating with educational institutions to introduce restorative practices such as circles, conferencing, and truancy diversion strategies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitate restorative practice services within designated K-12 educational facilities.
  • Document and oversee restorative practices, including the facilitation of conferences and circle processes.
  • Develop and execute agreed-upon action plans, ensuring timely follow-up.
  • Refer students to appropriate resources, including community services and school support staff, as necessary.
  • Manage cases for students engaged in restorative truancy programs.
  • Complete necessary documentation and reports promptly.
  • Foster and maintain positive relationships with students and school personnel to enhance the educational environment.
  • Innovatively advocate for restorative practices to transition disciplinary actions towards restorative solutions.
  • Exemplify a restorative mindset and demonstrate strong social and emotional skills.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and outreach initiatives as required.
  • Conduct community outreach to disseminate information about available services, increasing awareness among youth and families.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma/GED with experience working with youth from diverse backgrounds; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Proficient in utilizing technology, including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, for record-keeping and communication.
  • Completion of mandatory onboarding training, including Restorative Practice Facilitation and ASIST Training.
  • Possession of reliable transportation for travel across various school districts.
  • Valid Driver's License required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Effective engagement with youth.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation abilities.
  • Capacity to provide trauma-informed care.
  • Skills in de-escalation and problem resolution.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This role may involve occasional evening and weekend commitments for community events and meetings.
  • Some travel within the community and surrounding areas is necessary.
