POSITION SUMMARY
The Restorative Practices Coordinator is accountable for implementing school-based restorative justice initiatives through a transformative approach. This role involves partnering with educational institutions to integrate restorative methodologies such as circles, conferencing, and truancy diversion strategies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver restorative practice services across designated K-12 educational facilities.
- Facilitate and document restorative processes, including conferences and circles.
- Collaborate on agreed-upon action plans and ensure timely follow-up.
- Refer students to appropriate resources, including community services and school support staff.
- Manage cases for students involved in restorative truancy programs.
- Complete necessary documentation and reports punctually.
- Foster and maintain positive relationships with students and school personnel to enhance the educational environment.
- Innovatively advocate for restorative practices to promote a shift in disciplinary approaches.
- Exemplify a restorative mindset and demonstrate strong social and emotional competencies.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and community outreach as required.
- Engage in community outreach to disseminate information about available services to families and youth.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma/GED with experience in youth engagement and diverse cultural interactions; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Proficient in using technology, including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, for record-keeping and communication.
- Completion of all mandatory training, including Restorative Practice Facilitation and ASIST Training.
- Possession of reliable transportation for travel across various school districts.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Effective engagement with youth.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and documentation capabilities.
- Competence in providing trauma-informed care.
- Skills in de-escalation and conflict resolution.
- This role may require occasional evening and weekend commitments for community events and meetings.
- Travel within the community and surrounding areas is necessary.
