As the Structures Engineering Manager, you will be pivotal in maintaining the structural soundness, adherence to regulations, and safety of our aircraft modifications.

In this role, you will foster a collaborative atmosphere, guiding and coordinating the engineering team in the design, analysis, and certification of various complex aircraft modification initiatives.

This position necessitates a robust understanding of aircraft design principles and analytical techniques, along with FAA structures certification standards.

Key Responsibilities:
Oversee design and stress analysis personnel

Provide engineering guidance from initial design concepts through to the completion of detailed design and analysis

Evaluate engineering designs, including drawings and reports, for precision and thoroughness; ensure compliance with regulatory (FAA or other relevant airworthiness authority) and/or commercial standards

Collaborate with the Director of Certification to facilitate Supplemental Type Certificates and/or other regulatory or commercial projects.

Manage and supervise consulting engineers and/or firms engaged to assist with engineering tasks

Coordinate engineering department resources to meet organizational engineering needs

Act as the technical liaison for engineering projects

Align team capabilities to achieve the following five critical factors: Safety, Customer Satisfaction, Timeliness, Budget, and Team Development

Promote change through goal setting, recognition, and accountability

Assign work tasks to staff

Report to the Vice President of Engineering or other designated senior management

Perform additional related duties as required

Qualifications:
Familiarity with aircraft engineering resources such as MMPDS, Bruhn, Roark, etc.

Proficient understanding of typical aircraft structures, including materials, processes, hardware, and composites.

Knowledge of both airframe modifications and new airframe designs

Comprehensive knowledge of 14 CFR Part 23 & 25 designs, construction, and structural regulations.


The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be fluent in English (both spoken and written), and be proficient in MS Word and Excel.

The candidate must be capable of leading the engineering team and collaborating effectively with both upper and lower management.

Leadership Skills:
Direct and provide expert knowledge in the daily operations of the department.

Identify, recruit, and retain top-tier talent.

Promote AEVEX's culture and empower employees to take ownership of their roles and objectives.


Coach, mentor, engage, and develop the team, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development opportunities.

Establish performance benchmarks and foster employee engagement and outcomes through delegation, ongoing feedback, goal setting, and performance management.

Maintain open communication. Effectively disseminate organizational information through departmental meetings, one-on-one discussions, and appropriate email and interpersonal communication.

Provide oversight and direction to employees in alignment with AEVEX's policies and procedures.

A Bachelor of Science in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering is required.

A Master of Science or equivalent experience is preferred. An MBA is a plus.


A minimum of 15 years of experience in aircraft structural substantiation, including Finite Element Analysis (NASTRAN FEMAP), traditional hand calculations, and report writing.


Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to sit and reach to utilize computers and other office equipment

Frequently required to perform repetitive movements of wrists, hands, and/or fingers
