Position Overview:

The role of Second in Command (SIC) for a turbo-prop King Air 350 based in Hawthorne, CA requires a candidate with strong multitasking abilities and the capacity to make complex decisions while managing various aviation-related responsibilities. This position will support both the Advanced Air Essential Air Service communities and on-demand charter operations.

The primary goal is to ensure that Advanced Air travelers receive a premier experience aboard our King Air 350 fleet, while adhering to the high standards of Advanced Air, LLC flight operations and engaging with charter customers, aircraft owners, and airline passengers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the pilot-in-command throughout all flight phases in line with operational policies and procedures.
  • Conduct thorough pre-flight (walk-around) inspections prior to each flight.
  • Perform post-flight (walk-around) inspections after each flight.
  • Assume primary responsibility for passenger, crew, cargo, and aircraft safety should the pilot-in-command be incapacitated.
  • Manage customer service responsibilities for each flight leg as outlined in the operations manual.
  • Prepare and brief the pilot-in-command on all customer service aspects, including passenger handling, refueling, customs, and catering.
  • Adhere to all Federal Aviation Regulations, Company Operations Manual, and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Complete all ground training and flight training requirements without any waivers.
  • Maintain accurate flight and duty records, ensuring eligibility for subsequent flight assignments and reporting any maintenance issues.
  • Engage proactively in safety and quality initiatives by identifying and addressing hazards and quality concerns.

Candidate Requirements:

Desired Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1200 hours total flight time, with 500 hours as Pilot-in-Command, and 50 hours in multi-engine fixed-wing aircraft.
  • 500 hours of cross-country flight time; 100 hours of night flight time; 75 hours of instrument flight time, with 50 hours in actual flight conditions.
  • CFI, CFII, MEI certificates preferred but not mandatory.
  • Successful completion of FAA oral/written exams and competency checks within the last 12 months.
  • Knowledge of FAA regulations and aircraft maintenance procedures.
  • Strong customer/client focus and ability to multitask.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Flexibility to work various schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to pass FAA drug/alcohol screenings and background checks.
  • Maintain a current medical certificate as required.
  • Physical capability to work in confined spaces and lift heavy objects over 150 lbs.
  • Ability to execute flights of up to 4.5 hours within a 10-hour daily flight limit.
  • Possession of a current U.S. Passport with at least six months of validity remaining.

Compensation and Work Schedule:
  • SICs will receive a competitive salary.
  • A training contract will be required for a specified duration following the completion of initial training.
  • Flight crews will work a mixed schedule generating significant time off each month.
  • Flight crews typically average a set number of flying days and nights away from base, with schedules determined by seniority.
