Phlebotomy and Customer Service Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Phlebotomy and Customer Service Specialist to join our team at Norlanco Outpatient Center. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our phlebotomy services.
Key Responsibilities- Perform venipuncture and capillary specimen collection in an ambulatory setting, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Validate patient identity, specimen integrity, and maintain working knowledge of specimen requirements and clinical protocols.
- Document all stages of specimen collection in required computer systems, including investigating and processing orders, receiving specimens, canceling tests, and producing reconciliation reports.
- Maintain clinical skills necessary to perform duties, including phlebotomy, EKG, holter monitors, point-of-care testing, and specimen collection.
- Complete cleaning tasks utilizing regulatory standards and perform maintenance and/or inventory of equipment and supplies according to unit/department standards.
- Provide exceptional customer service, responding to patient inquiries, and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Support inbound and outbound calls to or from patients, guests, or appropriate parties as needed to provide services.
- Verify patient, guarantor, coverage, and hospital account information, performing required referral/authorization processes and entering orders for applicable tests.
- Understand insurance company coverage and referral/authorization requirements of payors, performing electronic and manual verification of insurance coverage.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of educational requirements, including formal education/training, maximum supervision for initial competency, and yearly competency evaluation and training.
- CPR Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support, required within 30 days of hire.
- One (1) year of clerical, customer service, or administrative support experience in a highly customer-oriented organization.
- One (1) year of experience with basic keyboarding, personal computer use, and other office setting equipment.
- Previous phlebotomy or registration experience, with training provided upon hire.
- One (1) year of Epic (or equivalent Electronic Medical Record) experience.
