JOB SUMMARY
The Clinical Nurse provides thorough nursing care through proficient assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation in line with facility or department policies, procedures, and/or protocols under the guidance of the nursing leader. The Clinical Nurse contributes to maintaining a secure work environment and executes all related responsibilities safely. The Clinical Nurse upholds clinical and professional competency relevant to the patient population served. The practice of a registered nurse is directed by the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Gathers relevant data and information concerning the healthcare consumer's health or situation.
  • Evaluates the assessment data to identify actual or potential diagnoses, problems, and issues.
  • Establishes expected outcomes for a plan tailored to the healthcare consumer or situation.
  • Develops a strategy that outlines methods to achieve expected, measurable outcomes.
  • Executes the established plan, coordinates care delivery, and implements strategies to promote health and ensure a safe environment.
  • Assigns elements of care to suitable healthcare personnel in accordance with applicable legal or policy guidelines.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
    The role requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling. Must be capable of lifting and supporting the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Proficiency in English is required. Must possess intact senses of sight, hearing, smell, and touch, along with finger dexterity. Critical thinking and the ability to concentrate are essential. Must be able to respond swiftly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions. Physical Abilities Testing is required. Additional department-specific physical requirements may be identified for unique responsibilities within the department by the nursing leader.
    EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
    • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred.
    • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider status according to the American Heart Association.
    • Current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner in the state of practice and residence; if declaring a National License Compact (NLC) state as primary residency, must meet licensure requirements in the home state; or for Non-National License Compact states, current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner required in the state of practice. Additional education, training, certifications, or experience may be required within the department by the nursing leader.
    • Compliance with the requirements for advancement, maintenance, approved certification, and nursing education as outlined in the Professional Nurse Clinical Advancement Program.
    • 4+ years of experience in a CVOR/SHVI setting is highly preferred.
