Maintenance Planner for Lake Charles Operations

The Maintenance Planner at the Lake Charles Manufacturing Complex is responsible for utilizing the digital maintenance management system (SAP) to organize labor schedules and verify the acquisition of materials and resources in alignment with the creation of daily and three-week work plans. This position also involves planning and assisting with minor projects, routine tasks, and maintenance shutdowns and turnarounds.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create daily and weekly work schedules
  • Adjust plans/tasks based on input from craft workers and supervisors
  • Update the CMMS database, including Bill of Materials (BOM) and Preventive Maintenance (PM)
  • Contribute to turnaround planning and maintain a list of jobs ready for execution when opportunities arise.
  • Coordinate daily work schedules with operational and maintenance teams
  • Manage and report maintenance backlogs to ensure adherence to Maintenance Indicators (MI), PM, and effective work practices.
  • Oversee work center capacity load charts
  • Maintain schedule compliance and productivity metrics for reporting to meet targets
  • Plan priority work items for turnarounds and support the organization during peak work periods
  • Manage external contractor work activities related to maintenance and small projects, including reviewing and approving timesheets and invoices
  • Estimate labor, materials, and resources for maintenance and small projects as per the Maintenance Planning process
  • Develop a library of task lists in SAP DMS and planning packages for repetitive maintenance tasks
  • Create accurate and comprehensive planning packages for all scheduled jobs to optimize craft productivity
  • Assist Area Clerk with work order/notification closure and documentation needs
  • Track and manage Routine Work Process Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in accordance with guidelines
  • Support and guide the handling and disposal of hazardous waste per Phillips 66 Environmental Regulations.
  • Assist in managing the Maintenance Department budget
Required Qualifications:
  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Willingness to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3 or more years of experience in craft scheduling (related to manpower, craft capacity, logistics, and environmental)
  • 3 or more years of experience in craft planning (related to safety, craft knowledge, materials, logistics, and environment)
  • Training or experience with scheduling systems in SAP
  • Experience in planning within SAP
  • Familiarity with project management software such as Timeline and Primavera
  • Proven knowledge of safe working practices
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain effective communication with process engineering, operations, maintenance, and other work groups
  • Self-motivated, requiring minimal supervision
  • Accountable and committed to delivering on promises
  • Ability to prioritize and develop critical tasks
  • Balance short-term and long-term priorities
The Lake Charles Refinery is a significant facility in Westlake, Louisiana, processing a variety of crude oils and producing a high percentage of transportation fuels. The refinery also manufactures off-road diesel, home heating oil, and specialty products. Refined products are distributed across the southeastern and eastern United States and exported internationally.
