Position Overview

Faulkner University is in search of a dedicated professional to fulfill the role of Dean of Students. This individual will serve as the principal advocate for the student body, collaborating with various departments to foster a nurturing atmosphere within the University. The responsibilities encompass all non-academic student affairs, including the management of student life, housing, and the welfare and conduct of students.

The Dean of Students is tasked with cultivating a vibrant culture of learning and involvement that supports both the academic and personal achievements of students, ultimately enhancing their satisfaction and retention rates. We are looking for candidates who embody a Christ-centered approach and will reflect the Christian mission of the University.

This is a full-time position requiring a commitment of 40 or more hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise all personnel within the Dean of Students division, overseeing their selection, motivation, assessment, and development.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with campus administrative sectors, faculty, and community leaders to facilitate strategic planning, issue resolution, and crisis management.
  • Provide guidance and support for students facing crises as well as those with general needs.
  • Lead institution-wide initiatives related to housing and student life.
  • Manage the resolution of student disciplinary actions, ensuring adherence to established standards.
  • Offer leadership in the evaluation, creation, and interpretation of student policies and procedures.
  • Conduct investigations and hearings regarding student conduct matters.
  • Establish both short-term and long-term objectives for the Dean of Students division.
  • Oversee the daily operations of on-campus housing facilities and staff.
  • Maintain effective communication with students, parents, faculty, and campus life personnel.
  • Ensure fiscal responsibility within the Dean of Students division.

Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in a relevant field is required; a Doctorate degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is necessary.
  • Must be an active member of the church of Christ.
