Job Summary

Alabama State University, Academic Affairs, invites applications for an Academic Support Coordinator. This role is responsible for identifying student academic support needs and working collaboratively with stakeholders across campus to develop and deliver programs, services, and interventions to address those needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Student Support Needs Identification: Identify student academic support needs and work collaboratively with stakeholders across campus to develop and deliver programs, services, and interventions to address those needs.
  • Liaison between Faculty and Student Success: Liaise between faculty advisement and Student Success advisement to assist in the design and delivery of programs that foster student retention and success as initiatives from the Office of Academic Affairs.
  • Academic Success Strategies: Assist academic departments in developing academic success strategies that can be assessed to support increased matriculation and retention initiatives.
  • Academic Personnel and Resources: Work with faculty and professional academic advisors to help identify appropriate academic personnel and support resources to monitor and accelerate academic progress across academic departments.
  • Student Self-Efficacy Skills: Assist academic departments in developing student self-efficacy skills by identifying obstacles that may impede academic success; to include overcoming barriers and organization skills.
  • Retention Strategy Events: Assist in the coordination and logistics of academic departmental retention strategy events sponsored by the Office of Academic Affairs such as workshops, symposium series, student group study sessions, in collaboration with remedial and recovery academic services.
  • MOU's and Transfer Agreements: Assist in the follow-up of current MOU's to strengthen relationships among academic departments with transfer agreements, coordinate meetings, fairs, and presentations that sustain and support increased student transferability in collaboration with ASU academic departments.
  • Program Utilization and Effectiveness: Collect and compile data to assess program utilization and effectiveness.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years of related experience with student success, academic support programming, data collection and analysis, and have working knowledge of new and emerging trends in higher education that foster student support. Master's degree preferred.
