Position Summary:

Titan Virginia Ready Mix is seeking an Environmental Manager to oversee environmental initiatives within the division. This exempt position reports directly to the Vice President of Mid Atlantic Ready Mix and operates independently to provide technical and engineering support regarding environmental matters across all facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage environmental initiatives for the division, ensuring that standards are effectively communicated and upheld.
  • Secure all necessary environmental permits for the construction and operation of assigned facilities, negotiating conditions to minimize operational burdens while developing and implementing environmental management plans as mandated by permits or regulations.
  • Establish and maintain an environmental management program to regularly assess compliance at assigned facilities, effectively communicating non-compliance issues to management and devising corrective action plans.
  • Address compliance inquiries, issues, or complaints, acting as the liaison between regulatory agencies and facility operations.
  • Support planning and provide engineering assistance for modifications to existing facilities or the construction of new sites to comply with environmental and land use regulations.
  • Ensure that compliance requirements are well-defined, communicated, and that environmental monitoring, reporting, and record-keeping are properly maintained.
  • Educate company personnel on relevant environmental regulations and policies.
  • Stay informed on federal, state, and local environmental and land use laws, advising management on new and evolving regulations and their implications for the business.
  • Collaborate with management to identify and implement environmental improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing overall environmental performance.
  • Conduct site visits across the division to inspect, audit, or investigate environmental matters as necessary.
  • Engage actively in industry-related trade associations to enhance knowledge of environmental issues and proactively address regulatory changes.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or a related field, with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a heavy industrial environment, including 5-7 years in a management role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong understanding of air quality and water standards, along with monitoring and reporting requirements.
  • Proven experience in managing environmental programs and a solid grasp of federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Ability to comprehend technical, regulatory, and external issues related to environmental programs.
  • Proficient in interacting positively with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance.
  • Skilled in auditing and inspecting industrial operations to identify environmental compliance issues and effectively communicating findings to management.
  • Capable of developing and implementing effective environmental compliance strategies and management systems.
  • Effective communicator, able to relay compliance activities to plant personnel.
  • Experienced in preparing environmental permit applications, reports, and communications for regulatory agencies.
  • Adept at collaborating with internal and external stakeholders in a constructive manner, representing the company's interests.
