We are currently seeking a Volunteer HR Program Specialist. This position will work 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday, and some weekends and evenings will be required during times of business need. Travel will also be involved up to 25% of the time. This position will require 3 days in the office per week.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL:

Implement and execute volunteer programs and services to further the engagement and retention of volunteers. Consult as an HR Business Partner to several lines of service to strategically drive progress and improvements with volunteer engagement and retention. Develop and grow opportunities for youth and young adult volunteers (ages 14-24) in the organization. Grow capacity and preparedness for event-based opportunities across all lines of services in all areas of the state during blue-skies and grey-skies. Assist with the full spectrum of Volunteer HR programming, including but not limited to, volunteer intake, screening/placement, orientation, recognition and appreciation, volunteer conflict and complaint resolution, and volunteer database management system maintenance and training. This position will require 3 days/week in-office at the nearest location (Shreveport, Monroe, Alexandria, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Madisonville, New Orleans).


Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures and other applicable Federal, State and local regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • As an HR Business Partner, serve as a resource for volunteer engagement best practices. Review volunteer satisfaction data and work with operational teams to develop engagement and retention strategies to improve volunteer satisfaction. Participate in the implementation, execution and monitoring of the volunteer engagement and retention strategy to include interaction with the volunteer community both personally and through the volunteer infrastructure.
  • Develop and grow youth and young adult opportunities across all lines of service in all areas of the state, including Red Cross Clubs and a variety of ways they can volunteer as individuals. Create sustainable, long-lasting relationships with educational institutions across the state (high school level and above).
  • Promote capacity and growth for event- and group-based opportunities during both blue skies and grey skies for adult volunteers.
  • Participate in the development of a thorough volunteer needs assessment for assigned area.Meetwith stakeholders and ensure alignment of established goals to volunteer needs.
  • Ensure sufficient database management with Volunteer Connection, our volunteer database management system, and provide support and training for effective utilization for both user- and administrator-end.
  • Assist with all Volunteer HR Programming, including but not limited to, volunteer intake, screening/placement, orientation, recognition and appreciation, volunteer conflict and complaint resolution, and volunteer database management system maintenance and training.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

*Valid Driver's License*

Education: Bachelor's degree required.


Experience: Minimum of 3 years of related experience.


Skills & Abilities: Ability to work on a team. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and presentation skills. Good organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple and continuously evolving priorities effectively. Intermediate proficiency with MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Knowledge of group dynamics, customer maintenance techniques, negotiation skills, and the ability to effectively implement programs is preferred. Knowledge of volunteer programs and policies preferred.


Travel: Ability to travel to field offices and events.

* Combination of candidate's education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description's minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).
