Hello Neighbor is seeking a Refugee Resettlement Case Aide who will join our Refugee Resettlement Department to help support and welcome Pittsburgh's newest neighbors. The Refugee Resettlement Case Aide will provide clients with high quality pre- and post-arrival core services, ensuring they receive a thorough orientation of their new community and reach self-sufficiency goals by the time they complete the 90-day initial resettlement period.

This role provides essential support to the Resettlement team case managers and supervisors by ensuring case notes and documentation are up to date, client housing setups are complete and organized, and providing essential logistical support for both clients and colleagues. The Resettlement Case Aide plays a vital role in ensuring that clients' and colleagues' needs are met and Hello Neighbor documentation is compliant with funders requirements. This position is an excellent launching point for both personal and professional growth.

Founded in 2017, Hello Neighbor works to improve the lives of recently resettled refugee families by matching them with dedicated neighbors to guide and support them in their new home. We've expanded from our mentorship program to now include refugee resettlement services, family service programs, a national program supporting other refugee and immigrant nonprofits around the country.

This is an in-house regular, full-time non-exempt position at our Pittsburgh, PA office. We are currently on a work schedule of 9am-5pm Monday through Friday; in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays and work-from-home on Mondays and Friday. We require COVID-19 vaccination and a booster for full-time employees. The successful candidate must be currently authorized to work in the United States.

Reports To: Refugee Services Site Supervisor

Key Responsibilities

    • Assists the Case Managers And Refugee Services Supervisor with client intakes and service planning.
    • Facilitates housing setups, including organizing furniture and supply deliveries, transporting clients, and more; prepares and submits documents related to moving into permanent housing.
    • Provides healthcare, social services, school enrollment, and interpretation for multiple refugee families during their first 90 days in the United States, under the guidance and supervision of the Case Managers.
    • Ensures client phone and logistics are set up with all required resources before arrival
    • Provides cross-cultural information, orienting refugee families to their new community, and ensuring a smooth resettlement process.
    • Provides timely, detailed case notes for all case management services; maintains client files and ensures supporting documents are appropriately gathered and stored with case files.
    • Transports and/or arranges transport for clients to a variety of appointments that include, but are not limited to, public assistance, social security, school enrollment, medical, and English as a Second Language classes.
    • Welcomes new refugee families at the airport and transports them to either their temporary or permanent residence.
    • Provides community and bus orientation to ensure that new families can navigate Pittsburgh via public transportation.
    • Supports cultural orientation sessions for newly arrived refugees on life in the United States.
    • Helps clients to reach their goals, address challenges, and utilize available resources.
    • Coordinates interpretation and translation services for families as needed
    • Participates in regular supervision meetings and relevant staff meetings
    • Adheres to Hello Neighbor's confidentiality guidelines and ensures the appropriate handling of sensitive information
    • Other duties as assigned within the scope of position expectations
Preferred Qualifications
    • Bilingual or multilingual in priority language preferred (Dari, Pashto, Arabic, Swahili, French, Spanish, Haitian-Creole, Rohingya)
    • Bachelor's Degree and/or equivalent professional experience
    • Experience working with interpreters highly valued
    • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, characterized by compassionate, courteous, cordial, and professional interactions with diverse colleagues, program members, and the community
    • Possesses cultural competencies, encompassing knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors relevant to the communities served
    • Thorough understanding of issues pertinent to refugees and immigrants
    • Able to cultivate excellent relationships with clients, staff, and partners
    • Exhibits adept task management, including priority setting, meeting deadlines, and efficient time scheduling for multiple responsibilities
    • Digital literacy and the ability to learn new software
    • Flexibility and ability to work nights and weekends as necessary
    • Effective collaboration with others through cooperative efforts
    • Willingness to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment

Additional Details
    • This is a regular, full-time non-exempt in-house position at our Pittsburgh office in the Larimer neighborhood
    • This position often requires 4-5 days a week work from office or in the community; evenings and weekends are often required (weekly work schedule will be adjusted accordingly)
    • Clearances required: Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Clearance, Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal History Clearance (PA Act 23 & Act 24); Mandatory Reporter and/or PSEA training may also be required depending on job requirements
    • We require COVID-19 vaccination and a booster for full-time employees
    • Required: Valid driver's license, personal vehicle, and proof of insurance; MVR records will be required as part of clearance checks

    • The successful candidate must be currently authorized to work in the United States.
    • Pay rate: $18.50-19.50 per hour, payable biweekly
    • Comprehensive benefits package available, including medical/dental/vision insurance for employee and dependents (75% employer-paid), generous PTO policies, paid holidays, and participation in employer-sponsored retirement savings with employer match (after 12-months' employment)


$18.50 - $19.50 an hour
