Job Summary:

The Vice President of Human Resources (VP of HR) serves as a business partner to Hub Group's business and functional leadership and is responsible for overseeing key aspects of the human resources function. This role involves strategic planning, policy and process development, and ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations. The VP of HR also plays a critical role in shaping the company's culture and ensuring that it attracts, retains, and develops top talent.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Partner with business and HR leadership to understand business goals and align HR strategy and activities to support business priorities
  • Lead efforts to improve organizational efficiency, effectiveness, and employee engagement.
  • Coordinate the creation, implementation and maintenance of HR policies and processes aligned with business and HR priorities
  • Effectively use HR KPIs/metrics to deliver continuous HR improvement and support business priorities
  • Lead and manage field HR team, providing guidance, support, and facilitating communication and collaboration
  • Provide leadership to the compensation and benefits teams in implementing competitive compensation and benefits packages within the framework of industry benchmarking analysis
  • Draft and hold accountable to the team's budget and P&L ensuring the group is sufficiently staffed and supported while also making sure all vendors are meeting contract requirements through annual analysis
  • Assigns and tracks special projects to closure, creating an annual performance plan to ensure continual Department improvement activities occur
  • Lead talent and performance review processes to ensure company-wide talent management success
  • Develop and lead effective succession planning processes
  • Oversee talent development inclusive of employee onboarding, online training, and continued employee development activities
  • Remain current with new employment laws and regulations, and implement projects to ensure regulatory and legal compliance
  • Partner with the Legal team to prevent and/or resolve any employment legal issues that might arise
  • Manage HR due diligence and integration in connection with M&A transactions
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Masters degree preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience with at least 3 years in a leadership role
  • Expertise in talent management, employee engagement and workforce compensation experience preferred
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or SPHR certification strongly preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, when necessary
  • Strong business and financial acumen
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
  • Experience using Oracle HCM software
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Transportation industry experience a plus
