Position Summary:
The Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) acts as a strategic partner to the leadership team at Hub Group, overseeing vital components of the human resources department. This position is pivotal in strategic development, policy formulation, and ensuring adherence to employment legislation. The CHRO is instrumental in cultivating the organization's culture and ensuring the attraction, retention, and development of exceptional talent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with business and HR leaders to comprehend organizational objectives and align HR strategies to support these goals.
- Drive initiatives aimed at enhancing organizational efficiency, effectiveness, and employee satisfaction.
- Oversee the formulation, execution, and upkeep of HR policies and procedures that align with both business and HR objectives.
- Utilize HR metrics and KPIs to foster ongoing HR enhancements and align with business needs.
- Lead and mentor the field HR team, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Guide the compensation and benefits teams in establishing competitive remuneration and benefits packages based on industry benchmarks.
- Manage the departmental budget and P&L, ensuring adequate staffing and vendor compliance through annual evaluations.
- Delegate and monitor special projects to completion, creating an annual performance plan to promote continuous departmental improvement.
- Facilitate talent and performance review processes to ensure effective talent management across the organization.
- Develop and implement robust succession planning strategies.
- Supervise talent development initiatives, including employee onboarding, online training, and ongoing professional development activities.
- Stay informed about new employment laws and regulations, implementing projects to ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with the Legal department to mitigate and resolve any employment-related legal challenges.
- Manage HR due diligence and integration processes in relation to mergers and acquisitions.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline; Master's degree preferred.
- Over 10 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, including a minimum of 3 years in a leadership capacity.
- Proven expertise in talent management, employee engagement, and compensation strategies.
- Preferred certifications include SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or SPHR.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% as necessary.
- Strong understanding of business and financial principles.
- Exceptional organizational and time management capabilities.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution abilities.
- Robust analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Experience with Oracle HCM software is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Experience in the transportation sector is advantageous.
